Michael Klein – Director, Business Development and Recruiting

Michael Klein is a veteran of the U.S. Air Force with nearly two decades of experience in defense intelligence, including support to the U.S. Department of Defense (DoD), Intelligence Community (IC), federal law enforcement, foreign partners, and the private sector. Michael has extensive experience assisting international intelligence and counterterrorism operations, and has received recognition for his contributions to national security.

Michael Klein joined the Air Force in 1998, serving as an Imagery Analyst, Imagery Exploitation Supervisor, and the 30th Intelligence Squadron’s Imagery Analysis Subject Matter Expert (SME).  He led U.S. based imagery and video analysis teams in support of intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance (ISR) missions and military operations in Iraq and Afghanistan.

Michael joined BAE Systems in 2003 as an intelligence analyst at the Defense Intelligence Agency (DIA), where he authored numerous authoritative U.S. intelligence products, represented DIA to interagency and international partners, and deployed in support of the Iraq Survey Group (ISG). Michael Klein transferred to DIA’s Joint Intelligence Task Force Combating Terrorism (JITF-CT) in 2008, where he conducted all-source intelligence analysis in support of global counterterrorism and intelligence operations. Michael received the National Intelligence Certificate of Distinction in 2012 for his role in an interagency team that disrupted a homeland terrorist attack plot. He held additional duties with BAE Systems, including task lead and hiring manager, and assisted with project management and contract proposals.

Michael Klein joined the Firebird team in 2017 to assist with recruiting and business development, and has contributed to Firebird’s continued rapid growth.

He earned a Bachelor’s Degree in International Business from Strayer University, and a Graduate Certificate in Terrorism Analysis from the University of Maryland. Michael has been involved in the Civil Air Patrol (CAP), and given time to the United Service Organizations (USO). He resides in Northern Virginia with his son.
